Champion clumping Palms

Gileno Machado

Recommended Posts

One species I'm growing here really amazes me for the prolific ability to develop numerous suckers. It's my Dypsis lutescens variegated form (picture below). Chamaedorea brachypoda is another species that develops many stems. Other heavy clumpers here are Salacca Zalacca, Cyrtostachys renda, Chamaedorea cataractarum...

What are the most prolific palms when it comes to vegetative development of multiple trunks?

Gileno, I dont have a pic of mine but Pinanga coronata is far more prolific at clumping than I thought it would be, it see's a fair bit of sun and it clumps like a weed, I have to keep cutting suckers off it constantly.
