Kyle, Thanks for going to the effort of posting such wonderfull shots.Where they all taken at Fairchild Gardens? Definitely a must see. My favourites i think were the pseudophoenix vinifera and copernicia macroglossa. One thing that amazes me about mature palms is that they each develop their own unique character over period of time, no two are exactaly the same, even though they may be the same species(Bentinckia,copernicia macroglossa ect)

Simply Spectacular photography! I fell off my chair many times, ... I never realised bentinckia nicobarica gets so pinnate - my juvenile at 2 metres height still has very chunky leaves. The pseudophoenix are great - i'm immediately placing them on my Palms-to-get list. Thanks!

Yes those are great pictures! I make it down to Fairchild most summers for the Mango Festival, and Fairchild is definitely a great small spot in Miami/Dade, a great big area overall for unusual palms. Some of your trees I know well; they have become friends I go visit each year to say Hi. You bring back good memories!

Here is a close up of the base of the palm! I guess it has a rhizome that stretches to the left that looks pretty cool.

Palm in post #1 and #25 cannot be B.hapala essentialy cause of the missing hairs on inflorescence.

It seems very close to B.dumasii regarding inflorescences only.

B.vieillardi/grandiflora/koghiensis are all exluded.

Does anyone else own any other pic of this particular palm. A new red leaf pic would be especialy appreciated...
