Anyone here have citrus in pots? :)
Fusca replied to RaychHasDatePalms's topic in TROPICAL LOOKING PLANTS - Other Than Palms
That's hilarious - I can't imagine a cat eating a Pigmy Date with those spines! Here's a bottle palm I bought last year in Houston (it's in the ground though). It made my drive home a bit cramped in my white Nissan! Oh, and you'll probably want to change your username since you no longer have date palms! ๐ - Today

Is anyone doing videos on YouTube? garden tours or progress videos? leave a Link please (mine in the description)
Jonathan Haycock replied to TropicalGardenSpain's topic in DISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDE
I've been watching your videos for quite a few years now Jamie and have to say what you've created there is stunning!!! Palms are really starting to establish now, you must be chuffed with the result. We moved into our newly built home last November, and I'm currently working on the landscaping. When things get more interesting (i.e. palm plantings), I'll start posting videos on Pommy Palms. There are a few bits and bobs on there already from my travels. -
10th anniversary of the Palmetum in Tenerife - Inauguration of the new area for Papua New Guinea
Jonathan Haycock replied to Carlo Morici's topic in DISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDE
What a fantastic garden you've created Carlo, and belated congratulations on its 10th anniversary. You must be so proud and rightly so, it's one of the best in the World for palms. Whilst living in UK, I visited the Palmetum 3 times, the last a couple weeks before we emigrated to Australia in 2019. Planning to visit my folks in UK this December so budget permitting, will try to head over again to your beautiful island. The Palmetum is top priority, but also looking forward to nothing but sangria and paella ๐. It's just not the same when consumed outside of Spain.- 15 replies

Why not grow orchids?
piping plovers replied to Matt in SD's topic in TROPICAL LOOKING PLANTS - Other Than Palms
I post this every year. My faithful, blooming white corsage-type Catt. The oldest orchid in my collection.; nearly 40 years old. Was a teenager making minimum wage then and this was a big deal spending $20 on a plant back then. Ahh, simpler times and decisions. Divided bizzillions of times over the years. -

florida Palms and Others of Interest
kinzyjr replied to kinzyjr's topic in DISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDE
Somehow, the city manages to grow these in the ground here. Mine stay in pots as accent plants. This is one of the few plants I keep in the ground since all they need is potted up once every 3-5 years. I'll have to move my "hardy native perennials" garden then.- 280 replies

Keep well watered. Wait for it to push since it did not pull. Here, they are slower to recover than washies and take about 1.5 growing seasons to regain a full head. Longer if not properly watered. They are tuff, good luck. That said, there are Trachy experts on here, way more in tune on this species than I will ever be. Might want to do a separate post to get those experts involved.
