Big Leafed Sabal
by Guest Keith in Zone 9- 2 replies
- 2.6k views
I'd like to place one of the big-leafed Sabals (i.e. causiarum, maritima, domingensis) across the pond from the house. I'm in Jacksonville, FL so it should be a species that will recover from a night in the mid teens every once in a while (say every quarter century or so). I'd "make do" with a nice, blue Sabal uresana as a substitute. Also, it needs to be a pretty large plant because the *%^$ing Armadillos dig things up. If you are located in FL, or in one of the SE US states, it'd be better. Let me know, Sincerely, Keith keithsa@mac.com

Hello fellow PalmTalkers, I am based in the UK and there has been some excitement recently about Aloe 'Hercules' plants surviving our winters with a little protection. It certainly seems that this hybrid is pretty hardy and will grow even without high summer temps. Unfortunately there is no source of plants in the UK or Europe but I will be in Florida next week and California in April so I was wondering if any of you either have small plants I could buy or know of a source of small plants. From what I understand, it's pretty tough to grow from cuttings - but if any members were able to give me some cutting material I would gladly give that a try! I've seen that …

Where to purchase Chamaedorea Radicalis?
by knikfar- 2 followers

- 2.4k views
I can't find Radicalis anywhere online. My local Lowes has the less hardy varities that are just labeled "Cat Palm". But I'd love to try a Radicalis outside in my zone 7b/8a garden. Just can't find them anywhere except for Jungle Music, which has the trunking variety. I've read the trunking form is less hardy so I'll need the non-trunking form. Anyone know where I can purchase some of these?
