Anyone is allowed to list sought after items (start topics) in this forum. Inquiries will be removed 60 days after the original posting unless otherwise requested.

Please remember that only IPS Members can offer palms and plants for sale. And please do not suggest a vendor unless you are certain they are an IPS Member.

The IPS provides this subforum as a courtesy to all those interested in palms. When discussing new acquisitions, deals, or availability of palms/plants, please refrain from mentioning the names of Big Box stores, nurseries, or other outlets that are not IPS Members. Third parties will be permitted to mention the source, price, or availability of plants, seeds, or garden related products in the course of normal Forum discussions if directly acquired from or offered by IPS Members only. Promotional intent or language by third parties should be avoided.

    In the eternal quest for coconuts in California, it's been suggested that Hawaiian varieties (or others similarly adapted to a cool tropical climate like Hawaii's) might be a better bet than the Malay Dwarfs at Homed Pot. Anyone have a line on some?

    I've started a palm garden on the Pine View School school campus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_View_School) here is Sarasota. A couple of areas have been designated for it so far and I'm hoping that we can expand in the future. The school grounds are accessible to the public on weekends. At this point I donated Sabal causiarum, S. mauritiiformis, S. uresana, Syagrus botryophora, S. cearensis, Livistona mariae subsp. rigida, Ptychosperma caryotoides and Attalea cohune and Ptychosperma waitianum that haven't been planted yet; and Keith (Zeeth) has donated Syagrus amara, Kentiopsis oliviformis, Jubaeopsis caffra, and a dwarf Coconut that hasn't been planted yet. A Compact Green Dwarf of Kaipoa type, that the envelope of the young fruits is edible, tender and sweet. For the moment, a single specimen has been found in French Polynesia, on the Tuamotus archipelago, on the Katiu atoll… In most coconuts, the husk (fruit envelope) is hard and inedible.
