by Mandrew968- 2 replies

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing very well and your garden is shining! I am writing this post to ask for any plant donations that some of our members or visitors might be able to make. We are a non profit organization that survives on donations. I would also encourage anyone that finds themselves in the neighborhood to come and see me for a tour and some palmtalking! Miami Beach Botanical Gardens is a modest 2.6 acres but we want to be as dynamic and eclectic as we can be. I also have three potential living walls that I want to get growing... we also have three ponds and a really neat bog that need more effort to come to life. Palmtalk has the best people and best ide…

Fern Hunting
by Dorian- 4 replies

Had a tallish (~6 foot trunk) tree fern in the garden with bright yellow-orange trunk and petioles. One of my favorite plants, featured in a few great pics taken by visitors at my last garden show. Well, I killed it. Discovered way too late that it was the fertilizer that was doing it. Even small amounts of slow-release Osmocote was enough to do it in, given how shallow and fine the roots were. Pretty sad about it, and looking to replace it another. (Ideally, a few.) Unfortunately nobody seems to sell ferns retail around here, and few trade in rare stuff.
