Free Seeds (Livistona chinensis)
by GoatLockerGuns- 1 reply
I have some extra Livistona chinensis seeds to give away (10 seeds total). These were personally sourced from a palm growing in Cape Coral, Florida in early October. I have already germinated a few seeds from this batch using the baggie/heat pad method (it took 2 1/2 weeks to first germination), so I know the seeds are fresh. These seeds have been cleaned of fruit flesh, and were pre-soaked in warm water for 48 hours. I am willing to ship for free to the lower 48; just agree to give them a good home. PM me if interested (first come, first serve).

Hey all, we have this palm planted next door, that will either need to be moved or be cut down. It’s in a bit of a tight area, but the good news is that it doesn’t need to be removed before next spring. So root pruning could definitely come into play for anyone who is interested. Seems like a nice palm to have to chain saw..PM me if interested. Thanks!

Extra Germinated Seeds (Sabal sp. 'Praha')
by GoatLockerGuns- 8 replies

I have a plethera of extra germinated Sabal sp. 'Praha' seeds to give away. I had near 100% germination from the seeds I collected at the Praha, Texas site back in late February. If you are not familiar with the ongoing Sabal sp. 'Praha' discussion, see the Palmtalk thread below: The extra germinated seeds I have are from the palm I labeled Sabal sp. 'Praha' #5 in the aforementioned post. It is the palm currently thought to be the oldest at the Praha site by most who visit there (the rest are probably volunteers). Reports of these palms in the Praha area go back to the 19th century. In a nutshell, there is some mystery regarding what species of Sabal these palm…

Only for USA shipping. Have enough for the first two people to post in this thread that they'd like some. Each person will get about 10-11 seeds. Post here then PM me name & shipping address. I don't usually get seeds because I cut them down before they're mature enough to create seed and let new stems in the clump grow. Here in S FL we grow new ones by separation because it's much quicker. Cool looking seeds aren't they?

When I sold my house in San Antonio last month I offered this palm to another local Palmtalker which he agreed to come and dig out but after a month he obviously doesn't want it. The new owners are friends of mine and don't really like palms so they plan to have it removed. I hate to see it go to waste and it's a little too big to try and move in my car! It's free to anyone who can come over and dig it out. These palms transplant well and this one survived 9° in February 2021 (photo is pre-freeze) PM me for details.

Tons of seeds if you want them. If no one asks for them, they go to the rabbits. All that is required as a shipping address or you can come pick them up if you're close enough to drive. My treat.

Interested in Cassia Tomentosa seeds?
by Patrick- 0 replies

Hello all, I have copious seed pods... all over the driveway now. I can pick a bunch up and send them out if anyone interested. There's probably 20 seeds in a pod, pods are maybe 5" long, 3/8" diameter. seeds are maybe 4mm daimeter. I'll just put them in an envelope and post. This appears to be synonymous with Senna multiglandulosa. I forget where I got this from. They seed easily all over my yard after winter. It's a small tree, maybe 10' tall max, or even a bush. Edit: Apparently it can get a bit tall. Wikipedia says 6 meters, but mine have gotten top heavy and fallen over or broken. I'll give them 3 meters...

I just cleaned a big batch of seed and it's ready to go. Send me your mailing address in a PM (Private message) and I'll send them to you, free of charge. Please put "Free Cocothrinax seed" in the message line for your PM so I know easily what it's for. I'll send them all over the world. Last year I sent them to all over the U.S., as well as (but not limited to) Poland, Saudi Arabia and South Korea. I think a few to Russia, too. And Texas, Arizona, California, Massachusetts. These are small seeds, so I usually stick a good number in the envelope. Some of you got some last year, and, apparently didn't sprout, so don't be afraid to ask again. Or if they …

Extra Germinated Seeds (Phoenix dactylifera 'Ajwa')
by GoatLockerGuns- 3 replies
- 1.2k views
I have a ton of extra germinated Phoenix dactylifera 'Ajwa' seeds to give away. Darn near 100% germination showing through the baggie. These were personally sourced from dates that I ate. If anyone is not familiar with the "Ajwa" varietal, they are from Saudi Arabia (Medina I believe), and are smaller and much darker than the typical 'Medjool' or 'Delget Noor' varietals you usually see in stores. They are also addictively delicious. I got these from a local Middle Eastern food store here in San Antonio. I have attached a picture comparing the 'Ajwa' seeds with seeds from other varietals. I understand that since Phoenix dactylifera are heterozygous, the offspring pl…

Free Hybrid Ceiba Floss Silk Seeds

One of my big tree interests is Floss Silks and the numerous species that make up the group: Ceiba: speciosa, crispiflora, chodatii, insignis, rubriflora, schottii, pubiflora, jasminodora, and others. I have approx 60 grafted trees in the ground here of unique flowers that I’ve found exploring around. With those, I’ve made numerous hand-pollinated crosses to try and obtain new unique flowers. I don’t have the room to grow enough of each cross out to see all the combinations, so this past summer I distributed approx 1,000 tagged seedlings throughout the area for people to grow in their yards. I have approx 10-12 of each cross in peoples yards (see map of locat…

Free Orange Geiger - Cordia sebestena - seeds
by Loxahatchee Adam- 12 replies
- 3.5k views
I have a bunch of Cordia sebestena (Orange Geiger) seeds that just ripened off the tree. They are the uncleaned fruits. Because of their size, shipping overseas will require a small box and will be in the $15 range and will need to be reimbursed. Shipping within US is free. Gathered Feb 2016. Send a PM if interested. I have a few in the ground in far western Loxahatchee. They have not been here for a true freeze yet, but have come through multiple nights in the 36-38ºF (2-3ºC) range the past few years with no problems. Frost has burnt the leaves when it's occurred, but no harm to the tree or branches themselves.

2 Free Dypsis Plumosa
by Josue Diaz- 0 replies
I have two 5gal Dypsis plumosa for someone with a warmer locale (Southern California). I have tested them in Fresno for 2 winters and although they survive, they take a beating. They will not be good long-term plants here. These two came from Darold (who i believe got them from someone in San Diego, so they've made their rounds throughout California already. They were struggling big time in chilly San Francisco. In Fresno, they love our summer but struggle in winter. These will do best, I think from LA southward in a frost free climate. Pick up only in Fresno, or we could arrange delivery in Southern CA. feel free to message me here.

These were passed on to me by a local collector and need a good home! The filifera seed was personally collected in habitat at Anzo Borrego Desert State Park. The Cycas hybrid should be like a sago palm on steroids with multiple flushes year and larger/more robusta overall. Local pickup in Katy or College Station only. Thanks!
