On November 1 and 2, the South Florida Palm Society will hold its annual Fall Show & Sale featuring “The World's Largest Sale of Rare and Exotic Palms.” Each visitor may take home a free palm seedling while quantities last. Be sure to stop at the information table for advice on proper methods for growing a variety of palms. This event takes place at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Rd., Coral Gables. Palm Society of Southern California JULY 19, 2014 PSSC MEETING The PSSC’s July meeting was held at two gardens in Camarillo, Ventura County. One was at the home and garden of Robert and Pam Solakian, and the other was at the home and garden of PSSC Board Member John Rees and his wife, Clarissa Dong. Both gardens were in the hills north of the 101 Freeway. The Solakian garden contains many large Howea and Rhopalostylis that now encircle the pool area, plus many new palm species rare to the Ventura/ Santa Barbara area. Hi Everyone, regarding tomorrow’s BPACS outing... The August outing is to Roma St Parklands, a very short walk from the Brisbane CBD. The parklans contains a great collection of plants, including many exotic palms. Arno King has alerted us to the fact that this weekend is also 'Parks Alive ' at Roma St - the biggest event there for the year. This will impact on parking availability, so it may be best to try and park away from Roma St and then walk/bus/train to the parklands to avoid parking frustration.
