Our annual Picnic & Giant Plant Auction will be held on Saturday June 8 this year. Terry & Ruth Lynch are allowing us to have the picnic in their Fabulous garden at 2802 Lake Osborne Dr., Lake Worth. Hello, everyone: We're back in a garden we haven't been to for a long time, which I've never seen. The May 2013 PSSC meeting will take place on May 18, 2013 in the Bill Burke and NancyBell Coe garden in Santa Barbara. The site was formerly the home and garden of the Gunther Schwartz family. Since our visit seven years ago, the garden suffered fire damage and neglect before careful restoration by the present owners Bill and NancyBell. Gunther Schwartz (in spirit!) would be delighted by our return to his now carefully restored garden. The April 2013 BPACS outing is on this coming Sunday, the 28th of April. We will kick off at 10:00am at the garden of Lou Randall, 52 Cockatoo Crt, Caboolture. Lou has created a mini botanical garden over the years and has a mind blowing collection of desirable plants, including Cycads, succulents and palms, along with many other interesting plant groups. The garden is on Military Trail, between Southern Blvd. and Belvedere Rd. The CFPACS spring meeting will be on Saturday, March 23 in Wabasso and Valkaria. We will visit the gardens of Anne Michael and Ron Eward and Fiona Pearce. The Michael garden was started by Joe and Anne in the mid 1950s and features mature specimens of Attalea, Bismarckia, Borassus, Copernicia and Corypha among others. Ron Eward and Fiona Pearce’s garden was started in the late 1990s and features a large variety of exotic palms and crotons. I am pleased to announce the annual palm sale for the South Florida Palm Society(SFPS) will be held at the world famous Montgomery Botanical Center(MBC) during the 9th and 10th of March 2013. Admission is $5.00 except for annual and lifetime SFPS members and MBC members. Parking will be held next door at Gulliver Academy. BBQ will be sold at the event. There will be free tours of the 120 acre MBC garden, throughout the day. In addition to palms and cycads, an artist( Linda Apriletti--fellow Palmtalker) will be selling her paintings.
