Howdyall: If you're anywhere in the vicinity, of San Diego California on March 26, 2011 come to the Palm Society of Southern California meeting, located at the following address: 11123 Valley Lights Drive El Cajon, CA 92020 This will be a marvelous garden, in the ground by a dedicated palmateer for more than 20 years. He uses Dypsis for canopy, or so I've heard! No charge, come one come all. You don't have to be a member, though we admit we hope you become one. But, no obligation. There will be a potluck, and shmoozing up the wazoo about palms, palm-related matters, etc. I'll be there (I'm a member of the PSSC Board) but don't let that scare you. …

BPACS have moved their meeting place from Mt Cootha to the CWA in Gregory Terrace. I finally got to a meeting the other week after being absent from meetings for about 12 months. I'd forgotten how much fun and great company these are. I took a few snaps. Michael gave a great slide show presentation on his recent visit to Vanuatu. With a bit of luck we might see it posted in part on this board sometime soon, here's hoping. Members gather and chat before the meeting begins. Take your seats Mike begins his great talk and slide show

It's that time again! Our March, 2011 meeting, on March 23, 2011. Be there, or be square . . . . This is a 21-year-old garden, entering its prime. Gregg Hamann, our host, started back in 1990 with a few Archontophoenix cunninghamiana, but he didn't stop there. The Hamann garden now has 401 different species of palms (species, not plants), including many Madagascan and New Caledonian species. Unlike many other gardens, the Hamann garden is unique for its use of relatively rare species for its canopy. There are literally scores of outstanding specimen palms in this garden. Mr. Hamann's favorites include: Syagrus glaucescens, Dypsis tsaratenensis, Dyp…
