Hi Everyone, the BPACS April outing is to Alma Park Zoo, followed by a visit to Rob’s Rare Palms. The outing will kick off at 10:00 am (22/4/12) at Alma Park Zoo, 18 Alma Rd, Dakabin. Meet in the car park. We have organised a group discount, so the admission will be $30. We were hoping for a larger discount, but that was the best they would give us... For those that don’t know, Alma Park Zoo was created by Bill Williams in 1969. Bill was also the owner of several palm nurseries and a keen collector. He transplanted many mature palms to help form the rainforest canopy of the zoo. Some palms within the zoo originate from Brisbane and are over 100 years old. T…

On Sunday April 15, HIPS will be having a garden tour and pot luck at the Lundkvist garden in Leilani Estates. The tour is for members and their guests. Come join us to enjoy a Sunday afternoon at one of the most beautiful palm gardens anywhere. Please bring a dish to share and appropriate gear for Hilo weather. The Palm beach Palm & Cycad Society Will be having its Spring Sale at the Mounts Botanical Garden. Saturday March 31, 9:00AM to 4:00PM Sunday April 1,9:00AM to 3:00PM Admission to the Garden is free to sale attendees. The Garden is located At 559 North Military Trail on the West side of the road, between Southern Blvd. and Belvedere Road.
