PSSC MEETING HOLMBY HILLS, CA

Mark your calendar, November 15th, the PSSC will be holding a garden picnic in Holmby Hills at the home of Drew Zager. This is a marvelous exercise in landscaping transformation where pre-existing is meshed with a heavy touch of the tropics. Drew Zager is the son of PSSC Board Member Bud Zager. Fittingly, the theme of busy lives is "Palms Brought Us Together". The history of this estate in Drew's words: In early 2000, I bought my home in Holmby Hills (west of Beverly Hills - east of Westwood) in a probate sale. The house was in complete disrepair and had been vacant for over two years with no running water. However, the house was paneled with thick Philippine…

The Louisiana Palm and Cy cad Society will have the Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 6. I don't know the time yet, but wanted to get the word out since it is approaching. We will be gathering on the Cajun Chateau, which will be located at the lakefront. There will be food and fun and a plant auction. Here's a picture of the boat. You won't believe the inside - it's much nicer than many homes! For more information, you can contact Jayanne Crawley at: SouthlandsTropicals@yahoo.com

Both are beautiful examples of how to landscape for a lush, topical ambiance. The first consists of large, well established plants; while the second shows what a fabulous garden one can create in a short time. Neither garden has been on tour before. Schedule: 11:00 AM - The garden of Robert and Mary Moebius, 905 Calle Acopada, Camarillo, CA 93010 (at Camino Concordia). Mr. and Mrs. Moebius began planting the palms in this garden in 1974. Next Tuesday night we are having a special dinner to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Palm and Cycad Society of Australia (PACSOA). Should be a great night, the menu looks very interesting at the Summit restaurant on top of Mt Cootha. What's even better about this night is that we will still hold a raffle, you beauty. by Paul The Palm Doctor!- 2 replies

How many cyber friendships from "Palm Talk" and other web communities have emerged from two dimensional status to three dimensional friendships? How many posters regularly visit eachother's homes and over time, have developed strong face-to-face friendships? Just Curious? Also if you all do "get together" do the conversations mostly concentrate on palms or do your "live" frienships usually go beyond the initial focus subject that brought you together?
