Everyone: I am delighted to announce that we are having our first meeting in Los Angeles County in about four years. Our March 16, 2024 meeting will be at the home and garden of Sergio at 13811 Philadelphia Street, Whittier CA 90601. The May 2013 PSSC meeting will take place on May 18, 2013 in the Bill Burke and NancyBell Coe garden in Santa Barbara. The site was formerly the home and garden of the Gunther Schwartz family. Since our visit seven years ago, the garden suffered fire damage and neglect before careful restoration by the present owners Bill and NancyBell. Gunther Schwartz (in spirit!) would be delighted by our return to his now carefully restored garden. The garden is known for the most varied collection in Santa Barbara and outstanding succulent planting. Gunther devoted 25 years…

PBPCS General Meeting: Wednesday May 5, 2021 @ 7 pm Speaker: Dr. Larry Noblick "An Ice Age Relic Palm in Arizona" In the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge of Arizona, there is a relic population of Washingtonia growing in a remote narrow desert canyon surrounded by Sonoran Desert vegetation. Some scientists have dared to recognize it as a new species and others have dismissed the idea. In a recent study it was found to be an outlier from all others in the genus based on morphology. Is it a new species? Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85841720590?pwd=Um11UVZPTk12RUZOWHBZWHVueVNEZz09 Call in: 1-669-900-6833 Meeting ID: 85841720590

Dear Palm Lovers: We at the PSSC are enormously pleased to announce that we will be holding our Saturday, June 18, 2022, PSSC meeting at the homes and gardens of John Boyer at 21561 Archer Circle, and Guy Young at 21551 Archer Circle, in Huntington Beach, CA 92646. We have visited both of these gardens in the past, and they are better than ever. Both John and Guy have engaged in remodels of their homes and gardens. You'll note the changes and love the things they kept, we promise! One thing they kept was their friendship gate in the backyard for easy access to each garden from the other. If that's not friendship, what is? John Boyer removed …
