It's a ton of work... some stuff (mostly the really big palms) I send to a commercial greenhouse, some stuff I winter over in my own pop-up greenhouse, and some stuff (like the windmill), I just put a cover over and hope for the best - so far, so good

Hey Bobby, good to see you back here again. We were all hoping you'd make another post soon. Your garden looks great. Are you sure you are still in NY? The pictures place you farther south! Anyway keep up the hard work that makes your garden special.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

lol... No, Frank.... that big one was way too much work..... I'll just put up a couple small ones for the plants I have in the ground, and the rest go to the commercial greenhouse that's only 5 miles from here - much easier... :)

No, Gileno... the one in my living room is still in my living room -doing better than ever... Adonidias, as with most palms I've found, really hate change in light levels... I try to keep most of my stuff in the same conditions if I can... My outdoor adonidias go to a greenhouse (unshaded), so I have no burn when then come back in April.

Actually, that's part of the reason why I haven't been on much.... I've been in South Florida four times in the past month 1/2 looking at places.... I'm hoping by April of next year.. I have alot of stuff to work out... I wanna bring all my plants with me down there.

Thanks, Jeff.. and everyone else for all the nice comments... It's nice to know I'm missed...... :) Yeah, I should be firming up plans very soon - just have to make sure all the pieces are in place.. It's so much easier when you don't have "stuff" to deal with (house, cars, life, etc.....lol).. ..

Bobby!

Good to hear from you again!

Love the New York garden. SPECTACULAR!

Hmm. If you get too tired of the high humidity in the east, there's always a hot time to be had in California . . . .

Unfortunately, the ravenala actually succumbed to some type of fungus and died... not really sure what happend to it, but one windy day last year it got blown clear across my yard and then it got some type of fungus and never recovered.
