  1. Hi, After a lovely day with an blue sky and 26C/78.8F I take some shots of this new palm for here in the garden during the summer. This afternoon I have been to an importer to got some Bismarckia for my own small business to sell, after seeing them I could not resist it to keep one of them for myself! I liked them before, but defitnely like them even more right now! Weather going to be even better this weekend with tomorrow 27-29C/80.6-84.2 and sunday will be the same but with way more humidity and some possible heavy thunderstorms at the end of the day. Next week going to be good growing weather in this early summer period with 21-23C/70-74F and humid with time to time a shower, I guess the weeds going to grow also like crazy next week. Nighttemperaturen going also the be fine and above the 10C/50F. If this a little taste how the rest of the summer would be, then I can't wait to see more Robbin

  2. Wow, all that for a little ol' Queen? Now try some rare palms, stuff Vegas has very few of. Guys like you that push the limits are a big part of the board here so you should be able to source out some palms from the connections here. Next time you can get the soil right first and keep after it. You probably have plenty of chemicals left over. One comment about organic aproaches to feeding palms. If you have good soils with high cation exchange organics can work. If you have poor soils they will help but you will not get robust growth. I don't have any soil, just crushed rock and some dead weeds on top. I use lots of water and plenty of balanced fertilizer. Kind of like hydroponics around here. Works great. And for those pesky "friendly fungi"? They do fix nitrogen but they also form nodules in the roots that actually harm the roots. In the long run they are not what you want for your palms. But not to worry, if you fertilize at all you will kill the fungus and establish good roots.
