Chrysalidocarpus is obsolete; it's now called Dypsis lutescens

I get by with a little help from my fronds

By all appearances, it is a Dypsis lutescens; please forgive me - I should have said so in my original post.

Simona, the smaller seedlings will eventually stop producting the forked leaves (bifid) and start putting out feather leaves (pinnate) and then you'll see the similarities.  They can be variable still so two individuals even in the same species can have more or less gold color, black flecking, etc..

Simona,

Andy only lets him have (1) one bullet, but he can't keep it in the gun. He has to carry the bullet around in his pocket. So the gun is NOT loaded!

P.S.

Simone:

Maybe someone else said this (I didn't see it) but to explain a bit.  A whole bunch of Madagascan palm genera were all combined into a giant genus, Dypsis.

Some of those old genera are:  Chysalidocarpus (incloudes D. lutescens and D. baronii), Neodypsis (d.decaryi and leptocheilos), and a whole bunch of others my senile old brain can't recall at this moment.

People "in the trade" as we say, can get super stubborn about those old names sometimes, so you'll see plants labeled with the old names.

MattyB is correct: those little seedlings in teh pot will start producing pinnate leaves and look like the ohters.  However, many will die off from overcrowding.  You can, if you want, pull them apart and repot them in individual pots and have them grow.  Back in the early 1990s, I ended up with a LOT of D. lutescens and other common palms that way.

A bit of trivia:  D. lutescens seed is sold by the TON, metric and otherwise.

Hope this helps.

I should have known that before they one by one dyed on me....till one was left!

But thanks anyway!
