Well, I've jumped to another category as well.

The garden grows . . .

This is a cool thread. I started collecting palms about a year ago at age 27

We have folks getting older, but also a lot of new folks on the board, too. Maybe someone should put a new survey?

Like Kim, I have one more year in the same category. I was thinking about it recently that I have no other family interested in palm trees, on the other hand, I didn't get into them till my 40s anyway so at least I have planted the seed of palm enthusiam for all, so to speak. I always liked a bit of gardening, some veg etc. not in a big way and never palm trees.

I'm on my second major palm garden now and if my wife has her way, there'll be one more shift for me, I can't see my interest in palm trees declining whatever happens.

The great by-product of this hobby is the cool people that I have met with some becoming wonderful friends, absolutely marvellous. Also have visited some beautiful places and gardens I would never have thought to go to if it wasn't for palms.

Palmtalk has been crucial in my development as a palm nut, but there are others, palm nuts, that don't use PT.

Happy Gardening

Cheers,

Wal

My opinion is that the palm generation average age continues to rise. They are a dedicated group who continue to plant but more palms. What will become of their palms as they pass on ? I attended several holiday celebrations that included many palm enthusiasts. The drink of choice was Vodka with cranberry juice with a splash of Geritol.

Land O Lakes FL, a suburb on the North Side of Tampa, FL

Summers are great, 90f/32c in the day & 70f/21c at night with plentiful rain & sun

Winters are subtropical with occasional frosts and freezes. Tropical cyclones happen.

We have a few Royal palms in the warm microclimates but Coconuts freeze.

I am a Kayaker, Hiker, Bicyclist, and amateur Photographer that loves the outdoors.

I am 39, got the bug very recently after we bought a property here, but it was in me always but from childhood till very recently I had this ideas that there are only 2 types of palms (Date and Coconut) and never considered a possibility to grow them myself as they either belongs to deserts (date) or tropical s (coconut) ...

I only wish we were a bit nearer to equator ... Still lucky as I can grow some outdoor as well...

I will be a father in 5-6 month , not sure a girl or boy but that will be interesting as he/ she will grow with my palms and they will have the same age in future ... :)
