MAY MEETING

10AM  SATURDAY, MAY 24, 2008

We will be visiting two wonderful gardens and the Fullerton Arboretum.  The meeting begins at 10AM at the garden of Louis and Carol Hooper, 505 N. Lois St., La Habra 90631.  If you have not seen the Hooper’s garden, it is a must.  The vast array of mature, rare palms is amazing, all grown to perfection.  At 11AM we will visit the garden of Bill Dickenson, 2313 Lark Ellen Dr., Fullerton 92835.  Bill is a long time PSSC member, and has many interesting specimens.  Be sure to check out the hybrid that Bill produced and is named after him, (Lytoagrus dickensonii) Lytocaryum weddellianum x Syagrus romanzoffiana.  He also has many other tropical plants including a very nice Ti plant collection.   At 12:30PM we will be meeting at the Oak Hall classroom and patio section at the Arboretum.  We will be having a potluck where the society will provide the chicken.  Please bring your favorite dish to serve 8-10 people.  At 1 PM Jack Sayers will be giving a slide show presentation of the recent IPS bi-annual adventure to Costa Rica. This will be very nice for all of those who were unable to make that Costa Rica trip.  At 1:30 PM the meeting, auction, and raffle will begin. We hope that you can attend this special day!  Any questions contact your area chair, Jeff Rood, 949-275-1523.

Just renewed my membership for three years. Unless something drastic happens, I will be there as I want to see these two gardens.

There is a chance of showers in the morning so, bring a umbrella. We will have protection from the rain during the raffle and auction. See you there.
