Matt-

It is a C. macroglossa grown in almost full shade. Without the emerging rigid leaves up top, it sits only 3-4 feet tall, but already has shown a flower spathe. They usually don't try to flower until they are double this size. It is an amazing and weird specimen of a sun loving plant - very spread out but still showing little to no petiole!

That C. renda picture is surreal! Do you have a higher resolution I can use for my background?

Cool! I had to reload the page a couple of times before Christians palm came up!  My itty bitty Macroglossa has a long ways to go...(I thought it was a goner this winter).

Gileno, that picture was taken in Phoenix, Arizona. Those are some old Washingtonia.

Sunny, those were in San Carlos, Sonora.

Dave, Zac was correct about the distance. There's some nice looking younger Royals in Magdalena de Kino, which is less than an hour south of AZ. We saw Royals planted in locations that were Ficus had winter burn. In Sonora Royals (as with most of the rest of MX) were like Queen palms.
