Notice the pindo, was grown from seed and was doing very well in the pot. When one day I looked and saw the new spear emerging was BROWN! Not sure what happened maybe I left it in this size pot too long and the roots obstructed the drainage. Decided to plant it late last summer. Photos show it on the rebound, it sure surprised me, thought it was a lost cause. Newest plantings Arenga Engleri, Caryota Mitis, Ravenea ( not sure if its Glauca or Rivularis).

Looks like a rivilaris, and a great location for it. Sweet Arenga there too. Best of luck with the zone pushing.

Hi Marvin, nice work. I especially like the Arenga. I just planted a baby, maybe 10" tall. Yours sure is a bute at that size!

Have you ever been to Galveston? If you want to make a day trip to check out some cool palms, Allen or I could tell you where to find them. There are lots, but for example, check out the 35'+ royals at Moody Gardens. I had some pretty neat stuff starting to get big in my old yard, but I don't know how the new owner is taking care of things.

Brian,

Thanks for the note, yes, have been to Galveston many times. One of my daughters graduated from nursing school there, U.T.M.B.

In fact one of my large sabal palms is from a seed that I picked up while there in Galveston. In fact it produced its first inflorescence this year.

Good luck with your new location in Florida.

Great shots!

Did you grow the arenga from seed? or did you happen across it locally?
