Noteworthy Palms in St James City,FL...#2

As my job takes me all over lee county, I notice a higher concentration of less than common palms in St James City,Fl which is on the southern tip of Pine Island.

While admiring a nice C.Crinita front and center on the front law of an obvious palm collectors front yard, I notice the owner wrestling a palm into the ground. This palm happens to be a beautiful Copernicia Bayleana. I introduced myself and he was nice enough to give ma a tour of his fantastic garden. What an impressive collection. Most notable standout was the HUGE Prechardia Pacifica. I look forward to watching that bayley grow over the years.

There are several palms from other gardens in the neighborhood.

Great pics.

I'll take a stab at the ID. Copernicia alba.

I would really love to have a yard like that! I agree with the Copernicia alba ID. The Corypha looks like a Corypha umbraculifera instead of utan. The roots on that Areca verstiara are awesome!

I'm always up for learning new things!

You are correct about the C umbraculifera. For some reason I get "Utan" stuck in my head...maybe cause its easier to remember.

I wonder if he just picked up that Bailey at D'Asign's sale?

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

It came from a wholesale nursery on the eastcoast. I think "Botanic" something or other. He can buy wholesale since he used to have a palm farm on Pine Island. Still a pretty penny I'm sure.
