Botanical Garden Kisantu, Bas-Congo

Recommended Posts

Posted

I want to show you some more pictures of the 100 years old Botanical Garden of Kisantu, Bas-Congo.

The quality of the pictures is rather mediocre because they were already taken 6 years ago with my first digital camera. So it is more a documentary report of a maybe rather unknown corner of the world.

As there are neither descriptions nor guides in the parc and I am not expert enough, you must identify yourself what you see.

Wolfgang

Wolfgang,

Thanks a lot for the photos! That looks like a pretty amazing botanical garden that probably hasn't been maintained too well lately. I'm looking forward to some recent photos. And feel free to post photos of the trip to and from the garden as well...! :)

That's not so easy because taking photos is strictly forbidden in Kinshasa and surroundings.

In Kin you can be quickly in jail if someone catches you taking photos

Wolfgang,

Wow, had no idea! Well, obviously wouldn't want to encourage you to do anything that's either illegal or dangerous, so scratch that suggestion! :( Hopefully, there are other areas outside of Kinshasa that you may visit where the situation is different. Stay safe! :)

Dear Wolfgang :)

the same applies even in india, due to rise in terrorisium their is a general ban on photographing in public places which has goverment buildings or establishments in the background.Even taking stills of private properties are not encouraged here..while foregin tourists have no restrictions on using camera's as to my knowledge goes..

And that botanical garden stills are very beautiful !

Thanks & love,

Kris :)

love conquers all..

Hi Ed

Fine if you enjoyed the pics. Hopefully, I'll find an opportunity for another visit in the garden soon. My first purpose for posting those pics was to give you some impressions of this maybe rather unknown Botanical Garden in a remote region of the globe.

Being always keen to learn more about palm ID I challenged you to try. Thanks therefore for your efforts. Yet, in the main forum I prefer to present my own palms which I have not yet identified.

All the best
