I will post three photos of Sabal palms growing here on our island. The first will be Sabal palmetto, the second S.minor and the third nobody really seems to know? Hope someone can help. They were all planted in 1997. Thanks, Joe

Sabal species unknown? Does anyone have a clue what this one may be?

I don't know the first thing about Sabal IDs, but I do know that first one looks strange for palmetto. The leaves do not look recurved to me and the petioles are extremely short for a base that fat. Here, the overall petiole and leaf height tends to get to about 7-8' before the thing starts fattening up at the base at all really. It looks neat whatever it is.

The second one does look like minor to me; the third one- I'm clueless

The first one was puchased in Washington state and labled S.palmetto same as the second one. The third one was just listed Sabal, but everyone we ask can't seem to identfy it. It is a beautiful palm and has never been bothered by the cold.
