Well that's rather frustrating. One of my Iguanura elegans has a very tiny sprout and the same with the Pinanga aristata. My Rhopaloblaste singaporensis are doing a little better though. Sorry, no pictures yet.

John, you've got some lovely species going there. What are your approx germination percentages for each species? Your D bejofo, did you get them in August??

Best regards

Tyrone,

Some germination data for you.

RPS purchase dates:

Mid-July

Chamaedorea tuerckheimii - 2% - fresh seeds, slow.

Mid-August

Satakentia liukiuensis - 0% - slow.

Ptychosperma microcarpum - 50% - first flush, and nearly finished.

Licuala peltata var. sumawongii - 15% - even trickle, and rising.

Hyophorbe indica - 20% - slow, germinating in clusters.

Hydriastele costata - 0% - slow.

Dypsis decaryi - 80% - fast and rising.

Dypsis bejofo - 1% - vulnerable, lost 40% to fungus gnat larvae - expecting no more than 10%.

Calyptrocalyx stenoschista - 15% - first flush, vulnerable - lost 60% to rot.

Archontophoenix alexandrae - 75% - fast and rising.

Mid-September

Veitchia arecina - 10% - germinating in clusters.

Pinanga glaucifolia - very happy with these. They still had fruit on when they arrived and the fruit was soft and no fungus. They cleaned up easily, and have been in germination boxes for just over three weeks, and they have nearly all started opening. P. glaucifolia is definitely my purchase of the month for September!
