I was told by a respected member our forum that he belives the Corypha in the video I had shown was actually C. talliera, and not C. umbraculifera. I have not checked Kew's checklist, however even if it is lumped into another species, I think it may have a visual difference. Here are some pictures - note this palm gets no irrigation besides when I put a hose on it, and is only 10 yards from salt water and in full sun exposure.

The people at Montgomery Botanical Center treat it as a distict species. Interesting to say the least :interesting:

It is said to be more robust than Corypha umbraculifera. :hmm:

The South Florida Palm Society :) and the Central Florida Palm & Cycad Society :) met at the Montgomery Botanical Center :greenthumb: (04/04/2009) as a joint effort to plant Roystonia oleracea that were wild collected. After the planting, Patrick gave a walking tour for the attendees. B) A beautiful collection of Corypha talliera was observed. Alas, I did not bring my camera. :crying:

However, many did. :innocent: Would an attendee please post a picture(s) of this majestic palm for the Forum?

Thank you, :winkie:

Best regards,

Ron.

I do not see the black armed petiole in Kris' photos, they look different to me.

Good link Kris. I wonder if there is any chance of getting seed off the tree in Dhaka University for distribution to palmtalk members?
