Wow a lot can happen when your at work  .Thanks to Clark for posting my Psuedophoenix and thanks to all who enjoyed it but this post reminds me of once when I went to go surfing. It was totally blown out, stormy and waves coming from 5 directions. I even saw a fin (possibly jaws) out of the corner of my eye  . I thought about it a minute and did'nt paddle out :mrlooney: . I would'nt touch this thread with a 9 ft. longboard  .

Doughtful, both have such impressive yards they’d be taking away attention from their other children. :hmm:

Both have totally different soil, exposure and climate and both are growing palms that many couldn’t or thought not possible in our county/state. :greenthumb:

If ever your invite to either garden, you don’t want to miss the opportunity.

That variegated Pseudophoenix is actually a P. vinifera. The story behind it was interesting. Mike Davenport told me it was sold at a sale and someone wanted to return it because it was "sick". He went ahead and planted it there, and the variegation does fine in the full sun. Let me see what I have for Pseudophoenix. Here is Fat Boy almost two years ago. At the time, this was an 8 year old plant from seed.

Now come on guys, you know Florida has plenty of big Pseudos. Just look at the IPS article about the efforts to protect and restore the native population in the "Keys" by the South Florida Palm Society and FTBG. Those pictures show some very old studs. The Florida version of the Dominican P.e. pictures.

There are many interesting facts about the genus. I do not know them all and some I only know parts of but this genus is full of odd stuff. Do any of you know (or would you like to look up?) the closest relitive to P.?

Have any of you ever had P. palm wine? Fresh palm hearts from P.? Feed P. palm seed to your hogs? Counted the chromosomes in this genus? (No Scott Z. your answer dosen't count as the winner!) Seen this palm in Mexico? The Bahamas? Cuba?

Is P.s. a halophyte? What are its common diseases? I want to know all of this! Please help.
