The weight of lies will bring you down / And follow you to every town / Cause nothin happens here

That doesn't happen there / So when you run make sure you run / To something and not away from

Cause lies don't need an aero plane / To chase you anywhere

More interesting than a stunner, from around the start of the month.. Higher clouds  are a form of Cirrocumulus. Was some Iridescence in the thicker clump of Alotcumulus on the right, but too vague to post.

Almost missed this last night ( was trimming a certain wild beast's toe nails. ).  Adding to it, received some " Spitzles " between 9 and 11PM, and a few more drops sometime before dawn.  Much cooler today ( 85 currently, compared to 98 yesterday ) and the sky is just about crystal clear. Stays in the 83-89 range for the weekend, then back to the 90s / low 100s by next weekend. Evenings, over the next 2 or 3 days at least, hang in the mid/ upper 50s.. Rare for this time of year here.

With a little luck, Clouds today stuck around just long enough for a pretty decent sunset. Hopefully a sign of even better ones to come as " Sunset Season " ramps up.  Was one of those " whole sky" kind of sunsets where there was something interesting to snap pictures of in every corner of the sky.

From the Darwin Ski Club last night, having a few beers and a chat with Pilko's Chat On Weather FB Group.
Pics by Jenna Carey.
There's nothing quite like it, watching the sun set over the Arafura Sea on a balmy dry season night !

Tonight's Sunset attempt..  Close, but thicker clouds not in the right part of the sky for another Desert stunner.  Still not bad.

Uncharacteristic here, not that there’s not beautiful sunsets. Feels like the sky’s on fire the past few nights!

May be the last night of colorful sunsets here, a bit subdued and had to chase it and get to higher ground.B753B173-6D94-45FB-8F4D-5FE973A154FF.thumb.jpeg.fed37c8a71c887a314ff14aeec6247c4.jpegAF786172-9238-43A8-AE43-4D2AB4B2047E.thumb.jpeg.45786c741fa922163aa0a5b5fa41fbe8.jpeg

Awaiting the next big plume of smoke heading west.. Could smell the smoke again when out watering stuff a little while ago. Weird perhaps, but can detect obvious notes of Pinyon, Juniper, and Pine in the smoke. When you have burned the first two, scent of the wood is not soon forgotten.

Believe it or not but there were a couple dry thunderstorms lurking the back country just to the south east of the fire at sunset too. Looks like a couple showers ( Probably sprinkles at this point ) are crossing Tucson on radar right now.  We're now up to a whopping 15% chance for sprinkles/ potential dust for tomorrow evening ...after a possible high of 118F, unless the smoke does us a favor again tomorrow.

The trouble with digital photography is you take so many pics, that it can be hard to decide on what you like... I probably have 20 pics taken with 3 different cameras of this sequence...

Agree..  I always try to pick the best of a group of pictures taken, then erase those that aren't all that great ( most of the time, lol )  ...evaluating those i might post based on which ones catch my eye first, since it will usually be those which other people are drawn to as well..  Other details like background, lighting, etc are factors too.  Of course, as you've seen, i'll post some randoms too..

@Tracy  I'm sure could add additional thoughts to this conversation  i may be blanking out on at the moment..

My biggest challenge, for now anyway, is being limited by the simple point and shoot i have.. Were a few times last week, ..and others before.. where i could have taken really good shots, if i had an actual zoom ..Let alone a camera that handles low light situations better ( Less " noise " / better pixel quality ).  Yea carrying around a bulkier camera isn't always do-able but always good to have with you when on special trips/ situations..

I'll tell ya though, lol compared to when i took photography in High School, when relying solely on film, ( right before digital stepped onto the scene ) I do appreciate that ..if i take a lot of " eh " pictures, i can erase them rather than having to go buy / waste X amount of film, let alone having it processed.. Got a lot of " eh " pictures in boxes, haha.

Good for sure, but for some reason, the camera altered the colors.. Does this from time to time when zooming in on certain things, esp around Sunset/ other times light levels are lower.  " Grainy- ness " you can see  in the picture also annoys me, haha

I hardly ever throw out pics... Unless out of focus, or an accidental exposure, say of my foot or the ground.. I'm afraid I'll be tossing out a moment of time, that I'll never get back... The problem I have with ocean/beach sunrise/sunset pics is hat no two are the same.... The water, sun/light, wild life or people are constantly changing, and invariably I'll  like the ocean in this one, the sun or light in that one and the passing birds in another... Then there is the equipment.. I carry a waterproof point and shoot while surf fishing... Use a IPhone when strolling with my wife... A better point and shoot when traveling, and a DSLR when I'm serious... I'm not any good, but editing helps me a lot...

Oh, and did I say I LOVE sunsets/sunrises?

Yea, i hear that.. No doubt i'll be mulling over which shots ( from the beach ) are the best ones soon enough..

Don't be hard on yourself, .. think your pictures are just fine.. Editing helps w/ some things, when needed ..but you have to have an eye for shooting the picture in the first place.. That, you can't really edit.

Can't really imagine anyone not enjoying sunrises or sunsets ( except those who might not be early birds, haha )

So first to answer Butch's question, I liked the composition of this one better with the clouds to the left, and the diagonal lines of the shallow water and dark beach coming across the lower portion.

On cameras, I almost always carry a dsl these days if I'm going to photograph something, weight is a minor inconvenience.  Camera phones are improving with each generation particularly for wide angle shots but I can normally spot the algorithms for color saturation and a very deep depth of field of a phone camera.  Some have settings to create bokeh but when you blow something up to print, there is a difference.  I digress though.  Yes, I do remember being conservative about composition and taking the "right shot" with a roll of 24 or 36.  Using a digital in a housing the first time was liberating.  Not having to get out of the water, carefully disassembling a housing, finding some shade to remove the roll of film, put a new roll back in, carefully resealing the housing after the camera is back in and swimming out, was sure liberating when you could take a couple of hundred photos on a card before having to replace it.

W / all the moisture/ clouds moving up from Baja  and off mainland Mexico atm, keep an eye on the sky today/ tomorrow ...Maybe into early Thursday ( at least around the heart of S. Cal. )  Issuing an " Epic Sunrise/ Sunset " advisory,  as well as an " Interesting Skies " alert..

Looking like everyone from AZ west,  inc. all of Southern CA. ( spreading north later in the week ) will also see the potential for showers/ storms the next 36-48 hours as well.

Sizzle-heat may be a PITA, but otherwise gotta love this time of year, ..when the weather cooperates.

I’m not with the get a new one when they come out crowd. Before this I had an iPhone 4 for like 6 years lol. Thank you, even though I don’t deserve it. I have quite a few pics I’ve taken over the years where the stars align just right and I’m surprised at how it turns out. I think more than half the battle is being in the right place at the right time.

Like them all but Picture # 1 seems to catch my eye the most.. Amount of sky / surf/ beach ratio is about perfect, imo..  The eye gets to see all elements in the scene..

Like picture #3, but think it would have more impact if there were more  hard -edged, cumulus- type clouds closer to.. or on the horizon where the sun is setting..  Below  where the strip of Stratus is in the picture.  A passing Boat or a couple people in the surf more up front in the picture would be additional elements adding to the picture as well..  Still a great shot regardless..

Just my Cent and a half, lol.
