A nicely variegated mango tree

Look at those leaves. I think the white portions will burn in the sun though and this will be problematic when it outgrows your shadehouse!

I know this is one of the palms commonly seen in the Costarican Rainforests in the last biennial

Looks like it was grafted onto a trunk-- probably with a variety with a stronger root system

Aussiearoids helped in identifing this as a form of Dracaena. I forgot which species though. It comes from Thailand

Phoenicophorium borsigianum - one of my favourite palms.... The more light you give them, the more orange they get....

I wonder whether that variegated mango tree will have variegated fruit?? Wouldn't that be amazing!!! You would be amazed as how tough some variegated plants are, Gene... variegated leaves don't mean necessarily they will burn in the sun.

Ari - Well that its mostly true about variegated plants but these things are often very expensive. That mango is over $200 U.S.!! and I would hate to kill it or even just damage it a bit. Besides that much white on the leaf is not a good sign with regard to sun resistance

A variegated "Calamansi". THis is a native citrus that I guess tastes closest to a lime.Its a citrus but it has a distinct flavor all its own.

A ginger with interesting leaves. Looking closely its veins are alternating in color giving it a pin-striped pattern. The vendor says its variegated but I am not sure that it is.

A freaked out Spathephillium 'Sensation'. The leaves are a bit crinkly and deformed and have thicker substance than the usual. A collector's item in the sense that it's an oddity

It is an alpinia... I can't remember the species at the moment. It is variegated, and like other alpinia it needs a little bit of protection from the sun. Semi shade is best..

Large variegated palm does look like a calamus, which is a common species where you are right?...

Smaller variegated palms look like some kind of chamaedorea maybe? Cham. elegans? Or not.

In any case, I always appreciate your pictures of local shows!!! Keep em coming. More variegated plants!!
