The variegated Agave in your last posts look like variegated False Agave, which looks like Agave, but is closer to the bromeliad family.

JD in the OC - You've really got a thing for variegated plants huh? I don't collect them per se but in this Plant Show/Sale I am finding that most of the stuff I got were variegated. As usual I will show my loot at the end.

Speaking of variegated stuff...

A Variegated Colocasia that has a totally albino leaf

I don't know what the variegated plants in the middle are

A variegated Macaranga.

Macaranga Grandifolia is found in the Philippines but with the help of Aussiearoid I think that we have correctly identified this as Macaranga tanarius.

Encephalartoses - still a rarity over here and it reflects in the prices. That E. Horridus for example is P45,000 so that's roughly over $900.

More palms...

THere were someLarge and small variegated Christmas Plams. I guess this is another variant of the golden form that kept some chloropyll.

Some times the variegation fades to a lighter green, yellow and some remain white. I'v also heard that they sometimes revert back to all green

THis stall had a lot of carnivorous plants. I'd like to try these out but my first few attempts have always ended in failure. Too needy and can't stand the neglect when I am too busy with work.

The aquarium housed a few varieties that required high humidity.

Some large and small species of Nepenthes-- which are tropical pitcher plants. These form vines and develope the cups at the end of each leaf

I thought Sommeria elegans are darker than that?? I have one in the shadehouse somewhere...

If you want to get carnivorous plants, get low land nepenthes... They don't need much looking after. Just don't forget to water. Although, my friends kept on killing his as well, which I don't understand. I only got 2 left from my Gove days, and they are still growing with very little care.

These "cobra" ferns -- what people here informally call this mutated Asplenium nidus - is suddenly everywhere. What was once a rarity is getting really common. A couple of years back large speimens of these commanded a very very very high price-if you could find one.

They are still spectacular plants and a worthy addition to anyone's collection but the prices are much much lower now. Don't get me wrong -- the are still expensive (over $200 for the ones you see here) but they are no longer astronomical--for lack of a better term.

THere was a big box of these filled with tiny seedlings. Probably propageted from spores. These are much more reasonably priced for teh eager collectors who is willing to wait :hmm::)

Bamboos are hard to photograph since they are so tall so I just have to concentrate on the stems.

Another Dracaena-- Can anyone ID this one??

Very unusual form--I first thought that it was a Yucca. And a variegated variety to boot.

Artsy fartsy break - some close ups of a fuzzy silver leafed plant.

That's all for now. More to come and I will try to get more pictures this weekend.

Another Mutant fern. THis asplenium's leaves just split once creating a bifid shape. Not as wild and crazy as the others that I posted
