I don't really collect variegated stuff but for some reason I ended up getting a lot of them this time.

Macaranga Tanarius. Macaranga are actually considered weeds over here but I thought that the variegation on this one was exceptional.

I even got a smaller one for back up. Variegation is not as goo as the bigger one though

Also picked up a Medenilla-- I forget teh species but this one has a drooping inflorecense. Kinda looks like a tiny purple chandelier

Looks a bit scrawny. I bought this variegated breadfruit tree on a whim.

I am thinking that Large variegated leaves woule really look cool!

Picked up a coupld of Moon Vines-- They are like morning glories but their flowers open up at night.

My palm for scale. I thought that the flowers were huge-- either that or my hands are small.

Am gonna use them to cover up part of our fence

One of my favorite finds this plant sale-- a variegated Ceiba pentandra or Kapok tree.

THe leaves are palm shaped and should display its variegation pattern very nicely.

Not the best variegation pattern, I have to say But I am excited to see how it develops in the future.

A lot of its leaves are completely golden which should be a nice contrast to its leaves that are dark green. The variegation even shows in the trunk - which is a good sign.

A foxy lady is a hybrid of Wodyetia x Veitchia. Not all faoxy ladies are varigated. Don't know if this is what you have or a straight varigated foxtail. You have so many varigated palms at that market it is amazing.

Of course I aslo had to buy a variegated palm--- Here's a variegated foxtail palm.

Tikitiki - its a pure Foxtail tha just went variegted.

Peter- I plan to put them in pots for years. I am planning to have a lot of palms in the garden and just have thee as accents. But I need to have the garden develop and mature first befor placing these in.

You can't leave trees in pots for years... They don't do so well in pots after a few years (especially in the tropics like your place where they grow so fast), unless you kept on bumping the pot sizes. Fruit trees like breadfruit and jackfruit trees, need to be planted when they reach around 1m high. Besides, trees provide better canopy than any palms would for all your understory palms you have...

Ari - I know what you mean. But I have to see how the garden develops before deciding where to place the trees. In the mean time I will be repotting them in supersize pots and probably try my hand in marcotting them as a means of controlling their size and getting more trees :). Kind of like "bonsai - ing" them

Btw, the other Philo to the right looks like it's Philodendron billietiae, not a meco but rather good looking anyways.

Love the variegated fishtails, rattan, and foxtail!! I have seen a variegated foxtail here in FL in the ground with trunk- an amazing tree...

JD in the OC - its great that you appreciate the tour. I like looking through this post over and over again myself. Am also trying to get some of these variegated palms. For the variegated fishtail I am still looking for one with exceptional variegation (they are not the same "quality"). Sone have few variegation and some are just green on green. I'd love to acquire a seedling with lots of well distributed yellow or white variegation.

I went to Philippines 3 years ago, and I can tell you that I really fell in love with this country. The perfect climate of nothern Luzon, the kindness of people, great and little gardens everywhere : everybody seems to love gardening in your country!

Salamat, but I know mostly Meconostigmas (the robust arborescent kinds like P. bipinnatifidum); I just happened to stumble on the other names.

Yup, I am still looking for really nice ones like those -- white variegation would be the best.

Nice to see that the variegation also appears on the petioles.

Its a good thing that the white parts don't burn.
