Howdyall:

It's that time for a kabary in California at the Quail in Encinitas, where there will be a palm sale of various vendors, palms galore, schmoozing up up the wazoo and more . . . .

Come and hang with the gang, meet new friends, and if you're not a member, come anyway!

So, who's coming? (I'll be, for sure . . . .)

Dave, when you're there and if you remember, can you check and see if their mango trees are blooming? I'm curious.

I saw Dave at the palm sale. I showed him the the fridiculous Euterpe edulis and and Dypsis saintlucei I scored at JD Andersen and Jungle Music booths. The weather was worse than I hoped but the garden never disappoints, the sale was great, and the presentations on Madagascar and Belize a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

It was good to meet Pogobob for the first time, and see Steve (urban rainforest) and Cromulent Kevin, again as well as the PRA regulars Paul, Bob, Kim, Bill, Len, and nurserymen Jerry, Dan, Phil and Shon. The weather had me uninspired photo-wise. I can add some plant photos if a pic-thread developes.

One question... is the big stand of Dendrocalamus giganteum croaking? Looking sad for such a mild winter.

All You Guys,

Thanks to all who attended. Bill S. and I did a finger count and there were at least 15 or more PalmTalk people there. I wish I would have had time to just shoot the breeze with all of them. I got good feedback on the presentations. Mark and Jeff did a superb job. Also, all the vendors appreciate the support of people who bought plants. It's a huge undertaking (financially and time-wise) to load up all the plants and set up a booth and then break down and return unsold plants to a nursery. If there were not buyers, the event would fizzle away. So, your support is very much appreciated.

The weather stunk, and duty called after the event, but it was very worthwhile, to dust off the red shoes and schmooze, with Phil, Kevin, Kim, Paul, and all the rest . . . . .

I even bought a few plants . . . . .
