With the warm, mild winter and all the rain this year my Cycads are starting to go off early. Here are a few pics I took today. The first one is a Ceratozamia Sp. I was given 2 pups years ago by a client who was given pups many years before that. Now one of mine has pups all the way around it  . Anyhows I was hoping Jody or one of the other experts could give me an ID. on this one. It has a beautifull lime green flush. I don't believe it is Mexicana as the leaflets seem too wide and I believe Latifolia has a bronze push.

Thanks Stevopost-351-12701679272658_thumb.jpgpost-351-12701679802386_thumb.jpg

Stevo, your plant looks like the one known as Ceratozamia sp. 'El Mirador'. I have a male and female about the same size as yours. Very nice plant!

I'm starting to get alot of Cycads throwing right now which is kinda surprising cuz it's been a pretty cool spring for the most part at my house. Lots of stuff I have in pots is starting to throw but here are a few pics of some of my favorites in the ground. Here is an Encephalartos Arenarius I planted last year with a fresh flush. Arenarius are fast!

If this does'nt look like George's dwarf blue Arenarius then I need glasses :) The leaves on this plant are identical to my green Arenarius (twice as wide leaflets than my other Horridus) and it grows as fast as an Arenarius. It flushes twice a year and has gone from a ping pong ball caudex to a Grapefruit size caudex in 3 years! Here she is.post-351-12735457403583_thumb.jpg

What I am hoping is the "golden form" of Cycas Revoluta.

I saw a picture of it in "The odd forms of Cycas Revoluta" in the Pacsoa site.

It sort of looks like it -- but then agin it could just be nutrient deficient.

Needs to be observed more to be sure.

I may have to wait till the next flush of leaves to confirm

The Pacsoa site says that the leaflets will eventually turn green and this sulfer yellow corlor is just for the flushing of the new leaves

It would be cool if this was actually a mutation and all of its leaflets turned out like this.

I think Encephalartos ferox has some sort of variations similar to this.

Here's my first attempt at uploading pics. I noticed several Revolutas in the area starting to push cones and meant to go take some pics as they progressed. Well I swear I looked back what seemed to be 3 days later, and they already popped.

My mind maybe playing tricks on me but do they pop up that quick? Anyway it seems all the revolutas in the area blossomed at the same time, and size. Maybe I am just noticing as I am new to the cycad addiction but seems like an extremely prolific year !

Hope these pics come through...

Gene, What type of Zamia is that? It looks kinda variegated, but can't tell if the leaves have grooves as well...I checked you blog and your tremendous garden...Just beautiful!

Underapalm napping - I think its a Zamia neurophyllida- one of the corrugated leaf varieties. It's not variegeted though.
