Would love to see the leaves on this Ceratozamia.  I love the flushes on so many of the Ceratozamias because they are often quite colorful.  One of my C latifolia hybrids is flushing a colorful bronze set of leaves right now.

My wife likes glossy green leaves though.  So she likes this Encephalartos natalensis x arenarius, which never fails to supply plenty of glossy new leaflets this time of year (mid-f;lush).

I bought this as a 6-inch tuber in the '80s, now it's got 24" of clear trunk.  E. lebomboensis or senticosus.

I love the color of the flushes on Encephalartos lehmanii.  Yours is jumbo size!  I got mine freshly planted up from a liner into a tree pot, and finally got it in the ground a couple of years ago now, but it will be a long time before it reaches the size of yours.

Nice looking E horridus x woodii.  Mine is a little different, probably due to mine being a Steytlerville horridus x woodii.  I haven't seen any of this cross which inherited the horridus blue though.  Perhaps the next generation, crossing with a trispinosis or lehmannii might get some blue in there?

Thanks Tracy. Definitely one of my favorite cycads in my garden. Pretty fast grower as well. I have noticed that there is a ton of variation in this hybrid. They all seem to look quite different. It amazes me that none of the blue genes from the horridus are apparent in the hybrid since most hybrids with horridus usually always carry a little bit of that blue gene. I also love the waxy dark green look of the leaves along with the stacked and spined look from both the horridus and woodii. I hope someone eventually does an f2 variation of the horridus x woodii (woodii) similar to the natalensis x woodii (f2) and the transvenosus x woodii (f2). I have both of those hybrids and they looking very woodii early on. I would also like to see a horridus x woodii back crossed with a horridus to see if any of the blue genes take. Don't you have the Arenarius x woodii cross? I really want to get one of those hybrids. I believe I saw you post a picture of one of these before.

Josh-O, glad to see you got bit by the cycad bug. I can't imagine what your place looks like now with cycads all around. I still need to make a trip out there to check it out.

My nat x woodii F2 to date does carry alot of woodii traits so far. Only time will tell with it.

Thanks Jim. You should post some pictures of your horridus x woodii. If I recall yours just finished flushing out its first set of leaves since planting. It's cool seeing all of the different variations.

Yes, I do have the E arenarius x woodii which I have posted previously.  The pup just did a 10 leaf flush, but I'm still waiting for the next flush on the main caudex.  I thought it was going to pop over a month ago, but I'm sure it will be another huge flush when it finally does, so I'll snap a couple of photos at that time.

The pup just did a 10 leaf flush? That must be a pretty good sized pup. Can wait to see pictures of the main caudex flushing. The Arenarius x woodii hybrid is at the top of my wish list along with encephalartos cupidus. Here is a picture of my tranvenosus x woodii (f2). I can wait to see what this one will look like in another 10 years.

Not anything fancy or unusual like you guys have, but our Encephalartos gratus surprised us with a simultaneous flush and five cones.  It's never had that many before.

Ana,

Your gratus looks amazing, what a nice specimen. Some of my favorite cycads in my garden are the more common species (for instance longifolius). It's hard to pick favorites. hard to pick still get excited when my sagos flush new leaves. Growth on any species of encephalartos or cycas species is exciting.

That is some serious cone action. It amazes me how much growth cycads can put out in a short period of time. I love it when they cone and flush at the same time.

Mine flushed in May and just put out its first cone ever!  Finally!  Nothing like yours, but give it another couple of years.  I was thrilled to have just one!

Nice looking Turneri Tracy. I really like the classic boat shape cupping of the leaflets. Do you know if Turneri are considered rare? I do know that I don't see them for sale very often. I personally think turneri is one of the most attractive green encephalartos species. I used to have a pretty good sized turneri but one day it decided to croak on me. The plant looked pretty neglected when I bought it but thought it would be fine. I was wrong. The plant flushed for me one time after planting it but ended up croaking later that winter :(
