I realize that I am going to need to take basically the same shots tomorrow morning, when the sun is in the East, but in the meantime, these 250 or so shots should suffice.

Shots of my place in afternoon sun

Let me know if you have questions about the plants in any of the pics - just use the pic # or cut-and-paste the picture into your post.

Thanks (and enjoy),

Justin

Your Triangles rock! I know they were large when you planted them, but those trunks are outstanding!

Justin what an awesome collection of plants you have! The garden design is superb and definitely up there with the best. You have got some really cool tropical trees in there. Are you a grower or only a collector?

Great job, Justin. Awesome palms and plants. Love all the Roystoneas and those Triangles are the best I have seen. What varieties of Roystonea do you have?

Thanks for the compliments on the design - this is the result after lots of swings and misses over the last 8+ years.

Right now I am only a collector, but I suppose when things start to drop seed it may be worthwhile to start potting up some of it.

They were all labeled at Roystonea regia. I don't know all the different royals well enough to know if they are something different.

I need to fill in a couple more, for ones that went kaput a couple of years back. In 5 or so years, they should be tall enough for the lined driveway to be more visible.

Here are this morning's shots - enjoy. Everything that was in the shade yesterday should be in the sun today.

Morning shots of my garden

Also, I noticed I had a before and after shot, or at least pretty close. The first one is from 2005, the second one is from today.

Justin- Thanks for sharing...on a technical note or I should say question, how did you get the photos to line up side by side.

You couldn't have used photobucket.

Beautifull Justin! :D Do you have an irrigation system all over, or do you go au natural?

Irrigation all over. When I installed it (at least the part in the backyard), it was all rotors, spray heads, etc. Slowly but surely I am converting most of it to drip. For example, the large side yard with all the flowering trees is all drip and micro-sprays now, as is the front palm bed with the Queens, Rhopies, Chambeys, Raveneas. The row of Jubaeas and row of Bizzies are also on drip.

With the drip and with the addition of mulch (which I didn't have until 2 years ago), I water each area only once a week. This includes the lawn. So fortunately, my water bill is getting a little lower every year. I'd really like to install one of those systems that generates reclaimed water from my septic tank, but they're just starting to allow those in the US, and I don't think California has signed off on them yet. That would lower my water bill even more.
