These are the first palms ive tried to grow and my success with them has fueled my interest to try some different palms.

Ive read these are fast growing palms but the climate here is much less than ideal for them and im in no hurry to have them out grow my house.

I take them out in the summer and bring them back in for winter.

I think i will be repotting them into individual containers again soon.

This is my Christmas tree palms when they were about a year old i think,i did have them in seperate yougurt containers for quite awhile sometime after this picture and then put them back together again in the second picture for last summer.

Theyare almost 3yrs old now in the second picture.

Aloha Pirranha and welcome to Palm Talk.

I just been here a couple of months myself and would not dare to venture a guess as to what your sweet little palms are. You called them Christmas palms, do you know what their botanical name is? And where are you located?

You're going to love this forum. Lots of friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable people.

These ones are without a doubt Veitchia merrillii.

I picked them off a small palm on my honeymoon in Mexico Dec 2006,then came home and looked them up to see what they were.

That's really romantic! Palms and relationship growing at the same time.
