First, I got these seeds, and seedlings since 2007. There are vary size and age. This is largest one.

Look like this sp. growing fast like others tropical palms.

Hi Komkrit,

Good to see that someone has a source for these unusual palms.

I would love to get some seed of them if you can give me any contact do do so.

Here is a pic of one that I saw in 2007 in Singapore.

Here are a couple of my african oil palms. I have three planted in a triangle about 4 meters apart. They have really been growing fast lately. They will eventually cover the area touching each other and providing some good canopy for this part of the garden.

Lucky you to have such beautiful palm. I only know one person in Australia that has it (it doesn't mean that there is no other though). Do they breed true from seeds?

Regards, Ari :)

Ari,

There actually is a company in Australia that sells oil palm seeds commercially for plantations. I can not remember the name though. There are various varieties sold for plantations and they are also crossed with the american oil palm which produces a shorter tree.

Very interesting Kom Thai palms!

I have seen thousands of oilpalms here in Costa Rica, even variegated ones, but never one like this. I will ask if anybody saw these.

I remember having seen an oilpalm once where part of the leaf kind of "got stuck" and did not open...but never one like this!

Most probably if such a different palm appears in a nursery here... it would be " culled" ...

Ari,

Looking back at this thread I see that I did not understand exactly what was being said. I have not seen one with a closed leaf either.
