I have plenty of strap-leafers growing in the backyard. Two Sabals that are very interesting to me is Sabal "Riverside" and Sabal bermudana. I'm on my third leaf for the S. bermudana. The first leaf was 7" long. That is by far the largest initial strap leaf for any of my Sabals. Has anyone experienced anything larger for a Sabal? Additionally, the Sabal Riverside is on "probably" strap number 8. Currently that strap leaf is 14" from tip to hastula. I can see how these will become monsters. A similar aged and identical strap leaf # Sabal palmetto has leaves around 5" long, currently.

Incidently, the largest true strap leaf I've observed from tip to hastula is 24 inches for my Butia yatay X Syagrus romanzoffiana I purchased from Patric last fall. What observations have y'all made? I also wonder what Mark's Butia X Cocos straps measure. They look huge.

My S. bermuda strap leaves are huge, more so than S. causiarum or umbrucafilifera (sp?). They make S. palmettos look like wimps (of course, S. bermuda seeds are 2-3 times larger). What a vigorous Sabal.

Ive got CIDP strap leaves around 12" long now so you know your sabals will be huge. There is a gargantuan mexicana in town I'm trying to get seeds from, but its at a restaurant and every year, just before I come back to collect, the F#&@#*@$&ING landscapers have chopped off the...spathe?? Those two are on my "must haves" list also...can you help a brutha out??
