Can someone tell me why one of the two in this double pygmy is all frizzled?

I agree with the deficiency. It's common in Phoenix species. Make sure that when you treat for the magnesium deficiency that you also give it potassium as well. you have to add both micros at the same time or else it will be even more trouble. If you've heard of E.B. Stone, they make a sul-po-mag amendment that's worked OK for me. Look 'em up!

You can buy K-Mag at the John Deere/Lesco outlets, I believe its the same as Sul-po-mag. I use tons of the stuff!

They really need plenty of water to keep them green and lush looking. You cannot over water them.

Most of the ones that I see in dried out pots or in very dry ground take on the appearance of your one...

cheers...

Do you by any chance water your palm's crown using a water hose pipe ? :hmm: If so you might loose the other one too ! Since i have lost few palms by doing so.Since i try to clean dusty leaves using water hose during our summer season.

And the leaves all turned out exactly like ones seen in your stills.

love,

kris.

love conquers all..

Mine grow like crazy on a series of terraces out here in Dry Wai`anae. The get the same water from the same drip as when they were planted about 12 years or more ago. Unless there is a hole in the drip line they are each only getting about 2 gallons twice a week.

Here is a triple at my office...It's probably 25 years old and the only time I watered it is when it went into the ground...It's also on the south side of the building and takes direct sun all summer log (sounds like a Kid Rock song title)...once again go figure.
