I bought 2 identical Phoenix in May. The reason I bought these was because all other 7' CIDP were $500 around here and these were MUCH cheaper. I knew it did not look as thick and full as other CIDP but the guy guaranteed me they were pure CIDP from a grower in Cali. I showed these pics to someone else on here, and they said it looks like its crossed with Dacty or something. The leaflets are much longer and get windblown and hang down, and the crown is not as full. It was purchased in a 16" box and I'm wondering if it was maybe grown in shade/stretched out? Or is it a hybrid and with what?

Here is the one in the front after planting in March, more tight and upright

Here is the one in the back now after being planted for 6 months. The one in the front looks identical, they are not as upright and still look like the leaflets are too long for CIDP and crown is not as full

They do look a bit different than most CIDP that I see here......hard to tell if they are hybrid or not.....nice looking palms regardless.

The look shade cloth grown. You've gotta wait until they throw a new head of leaves before you can tell anything. Right now I don't see anything that excludes them from being P. canariensis.

They often look like when grown as an indoor plant. Give them 12 months too bulk up a bit. They are still nice palms regardless.

They look like pure CIDP to me. I would bet that the new growth will shrink on you, but after it flushes out the streched grow, you will get compacted CIDP look .
