I did read your damage report and thanks for the report. Seems we both got hit early this year as I had 2 nights early Dec. down to 25 F. That's colder than any temp. I recorded last year. I see no palm damage but all the tender stuff was reduced to mush. I'm glad to hear all your hybrids came through OK. Let's be gald we don't live in the Northeast, as some places are buried under 2 feet of snow this morning.

I think such storms are exactly why we don't live in such places.... not to mention our love for palms. I think it's going to be an interesting winter, it'll be interesting to see if the hybrids continue to grow during it. I'll look forward to your updates. Jv

If you are interested in environmental effects on palm growth it would be well to study the considerable literature on oil palm growth. Classical work in this area was done by R.H.V. Corley in Malaysia.

If you Google "vegetative growth in oil palm" you can get considerable info.
