I believe this palm I purchased a few years ago is an Alexander palm (Archontophoenix alexandrae), but I can't remember for sure. Does that seem right? It's not a Solitaire palm (Ptychosperma elegans), is it?

Hello, Your palm looks to me to be a Veitchia.

Yes. Would like to follow you, Derek. The shown palm is neither an A. cunnighamiana nor a A. alexandrae.

The form of the leafs is more that of a Veitchia (merillii). ;)

Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty sure it's not a Veitchia merilli. Have several of those in my yard and plenty around the neighborhood...

Here are some close ups:

I think the trunk may be quite thick for the species, because I water and fertilize heavily. What else could it be?

It looks very healthy. At what size was it planted at, and how long ago?

Thanks. It's a pretty fast grower. I planted it from a little 3 gallon plant about 2.5 years ago. I haven't had any problems yet.

Not an Acrhie, for sure.

Lovely, whatever it is, there's plenty of room in your garden for an Archie.

I have three in my yard that I planted from 7gals last year.

I have them around a fountain so they get plenty of water that splashes out. They love the water and are growing very fast.
