Nice job on growing those Euterpe's Joe. I wish I needed some (got 4 already) as I would snatch those suckers up. Those are some of the best grown ones I have seen in SoCal. Sancona is nice too.

Yes sir Shon, it has been awhile.

Well both of my weak-rooted foxtails have taken a hit. One had already been staked up from the Dec. storm, but is leaning a bit again.

The other is leaning over as well from this storm.

How about you?

Yes, those E. edulis have been pushing it!

The sanconas are at the top, east part of the property. Got those from Dutch, up in Oxnard, in Jan 06. At the time they had just been put in 5g's.

Come on by if you can. I have several plants I have been meaning to show you.

Thanks Brandon and it was very nice meeting you.

Actually I still have the 15g triple Euterpe edulis and a good number of 5g ones, as well as tons in liners.

As you mentioned though, the sanconas are all gone.

Len, I'm doubtful they will be saved as well.

I have seen the same rotted roots, that you mention, in the 5 other ones that ended up croaking!

They have to been grown in full sun in really good draining soil.

Also, CA grown ones are they way to go.

Thanks for stopping by yesterday w/ Jeff.

What do you have behind that little garage? A hydrogen-solar fusion palm growing light device??

Vince,

I wish! I do propagate my seedlings in that there garage, w/ heat mats and the like, but no earth shattering palm growing technology going on.

I think I'm like most others, where some things grow well for you and others don't.

I think Joe has a special Palm Maniac Juice that he feeds his palms. And when there's extra I've seen him drink it too. He turned big and green.

Now that was supposed to be our secret!!!

When it comes to growing palms, a green thumb just isn't enough!

Well, at least you properly noted that it is trademarked. :)

Are those Euterpe's as fat as they are going to get, or will they continue to get fatter?

I've been looking for something I could use as a quasi-hedge, and those look like they might do the ticket.

They will get fatter Justin. I think they will probably end up around 7-8" diameter and a good multi should do what you are looking for.

That is so nice Joe! Chamaedoreas are way underused in my opinion. I can't wait to get some deep shade to start playing with all the different Chamaedoreas. Plus they always look good.

Thanks Matt. They really do look nice, especially ones that have a nice bamboo look.

I have some of these in 20 gallon as well and one triple has really fat trunks. I'll post a pic of that one.

Jeff,

Len was a man of his word and sure enough came by w/ his buddy and picked up the palm that weekend.

But thanks for twisting his arm a bit, even if not necessary. :)

On another note, those Chamaedorea angustisecta's I got from you are doing very well! Thanks

Yea, pretty weird, more like the check got lost in the mail. :floor:

On a more serious note, mine seem to stuggle some in pots and have lost many of them. I don't know if it's too hot here or what. So, I'm thrilled to hear that many of you that got some seed, all have said their doing great.
