I've been waiting days to photograph the blue in my yard but the weather is in its 4th day of dreary rain and chilliness: so unlike a typical FL dry season. I'm sure it drives visitors crazier than the locals because all the cash cows spent good money to frolic in the sunshine. Mother Nature rains on the rich and beautiful as well as the peons who can't afford to leave.

Last night during a brief break in precipitation I went looking for blue.

Coccothrinax Azul. Its fronds are stiff like plastic but the blue tends to fade after cold snaps.

And even though this thread specified palms, I have blue succulents that clamor for admiration.

Agave blue wave in 3g pot. We have to figure out where on our property to plant this lovely.

Well, my thumbnail picture is of a Serenoa repens that was planted some five years ago. This species is infamously difficult to move, even from a container into the ground, so of course it died back to a little ghost of itself before vigorously rebounding. It's now about 5 feet across and 4 feet tall.

The plant was grown from seed at a native plant nursery in Christmas, Florida and I'm pretty certain it was grown from wild seed gathered along the Atlantic Ocean in southern Brevard County, Florida. Some habitat for these beautiful palms is protected within Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge.

The blue palms in everyone's posts are sensational! The thin leaves of the cerifera are wonderful, the in-your-face Bismarckias are incredible, and you're right, you can't have just one! Makes me miss my Brahea armata. A small seedling I planted directly into the ground but as I worked on that part of the garden, I had to move it and it hated the roots disturbed...DEAD! That hurts. Especially since it was a gift from a friend! Ouch!

Enjoying the blue theme from here in the middle of the UK.

Here is my Brahea armata, picture from today, in the coldest month of the year for us Februrary -5 C/ 23 F it has seen just lately and I thought it would look a little washed out with all the snow we have had of late but not so.
