After a long and exhausting marathon of tests and exams, it was finally published the list of candidates approved for the most important and traditional University in our region (Universidade Federal) and we had the supreme pleasure to see our son, Gileno Jr being selected to get a full scholarship for the Law College, the local equivalent of Harvard or Yale, a 200 years old College, a highly recognized University in Brazil.

We were actually very impressed with his outstanding grades achieved in the tests, as he qualified among the top 30 students that applied for the class, out of 5,000+ best students candidates for this difficult College...It's great to see my wife Barbara crying in happiness...what a great day today !! :D

Here's the reason of our pride (in black T shirt in the center)... the future attorney celebrating with some friends:

Gileno,

That's an outstanding accomplishment! Congratulations to you, your wife and Gileno Jr! :) Is the university in Recife? (I.e. close by).

Thanks Bo,

Yes, The Federal University campus is located in Recife, 20 km west of our home, where he will attend the freshman and sophomore classes. After the third year, the class moves to the traditional old buildings downtown...(with many tall palms in the garden, by the way...) located some 5 km from our apartment. I'll have to photograph the old Victorian building and the Palms soon...

Gileno,

Very impressive and historic! And nice for your son to have some independence by being away, yet so close to home. :)

Gileno, congratulations. What a nice looking bunch of kids and your son is very handsom. I'm sure he will go far and you could be the proud papa of the president of Brazil some day.
