i have seen few here,but never this tall..we call them the 'fern nest or birds nest'.But exact botanical name i do not know.

Foliage looks like Meryta balansae, but the trunk doesn't look right. Dunno.

SoCal and SoFla; zone varies by location.

Don't Know what you call it but whenever i visit Sol i just call it the Doctor Seuss plant ! :mrlooney:

Very likely one of the tree-like Lobelias from the mountains of east Africa. I am not sure which species.

I grew Lobelia gibberoa for a while, but the irrigation line for it and a few other plants fell victim to rodents, and I discovered the damage too late. Our summers are just too dry to take the eye off the ball when it comes to thirsty plants like this one.. I'd love to grow it again, since it has a great form.

How difficult are they do find for sale?

It is growing extra fast now, I'd say it was 6 meters tall
