Areca triandra flowering, did well in the cold

Our big clump of Areca triandra is flowering. It performed well through the horrible cold winter we had. It is growing under thick tree canopy and only suffered minor burn. It is about 10 ft tall.

Triandra surprises a lot of people. Its a lot tougher and cold resistant than people give it credit for. You have a lovely strong looking plant too, it will take a lot more cold to take that baby down.

Wow Eric, that looks amazing! What was your absolute low there this winter? Mine just barely survived this horrendous winter, in which my absolute low was 25 F. Clearly, this species is the cold champion of the Arecas.

Awesome. I should plant mine out this summer. My A catechu is growing like a Bangalow. Well not quite, but it's great to dream.

Best regards
