I am a beautiful woman, but I don't believe my beauty is made up of from my outward appearance and nor do I believe that is how most of you view women. I believe Bubba's intentions were to encourage women to be an active part of this forum, to encourage women to feel comfortable enough to post. So my advise in attracting additional beautiful women to Palmtalk is to stop making posts about the sounds of Uranus...

And if there is going to be a pagent for a Mr. and Mrs. Palm Universe, don't bother. WE ALREADY WON!

April,

The double entendre is an unfortunate thing, and for many, it is uncontrollable the older you become (especially where becoming older means regressing towards infancy). Although some may feel my topic was intentionally provocative, the title hails from a legitimate report. Alas, where "boys will be boys" it was doomed to fail. I don't think that means we should avoid posting anything that can be openly misconstrued, otherwise where is our freedom to express? For some, that often means getting stuff out of your system. Is that to be misinterpreted? It's a very dark region, as too is space - but it's a place men like to go - boldly!

At least we agree on bubba's intentions. Just as beauty isn't only skin-deep, words too, are no judge of a person's sincerity. I guess that's irony for you!

April, This whole silly thread that I started was worthwhile to get pictures of you and Bill during nuptials at the Garden! Congratulations to both of you! My verbage was unintentionally devisive.I still do not think the goal of attracting more female posters to the Board is dubious but I made a mistake in presentation.

That stated, the last person that should that should receive admonishment is John and it was classic fortuity that his Uranus Post happened on the Board when it did. He is one of our all-time outstanding Posters.

I am going to bow out of this tirade I caused, happy we all got shots of your nuptials, unhappy about all the consternation I provoked.

It's like Adam and Eve in the garden, but with formal clothes on and a palm tree instead of an apple tree, and their names are different, nevermind.

This country - and this board - is drowning in political correctness.

I completely understood bubba's meaning and took no offense at it. In fact, I've never taken offense to anything on this board or the other one.

I don't post as often here because I have to be very careful about what I write so the other board is more to my liking. I am an avid gardener and love my palms, planting more every month.

If any woman doesn't post here because she was offended by something one of the guys said, she needs to get over herself and move on.

I am sure Dean will warn me about this, too.

We are in the off-toppic area, aren´t we? :D Okay, folkz ... it´s a little bit funny that all posts (excepted that from April) have been created by guys. *lol*

Bubba has got indeed a very good idea. :)

This is an men-dominated forum - some women are silent readers, others not. I think of Meg, Kathryn, Susan, Peachy and so many others. Beauty is always a question of relation, the most important one comes from inside.

As far as I understand Bubba wanted to elate all women to show that they are an active part of Palmtalk.

I am interested in get to know, too, how many women we are. If only a few more answer here or somewehere else we would have won.

Bubba, gimme five. :greenthumb:

So I'll attempt to steer this topic back in the direction that I think Bubba intended. How can we attract more women to PalmTalk? Or should that question be expanded to explore why more women aren't involved and interested in palms in general - and how to address that?

This should do it. You're welcome.

You're right Kitty,

The IPS wants Palms discussed here, not political correctness. Nor do they want anything that can causes controversy, other than a palm ID or two. But anyone who has been around long enough knows that this is not necessarily my position. Before all the rules were initiated, I ran things much differently. Many did become offended over topics exactly like this one. I heard from them, the Directors heard from them. But for obvious reasons, you did not. The Directors have since chosen to disallow controversial topics. And I'll say it once again, we are lucky they still allow an off topic forum.

So I am now obligated to carry out the wishes of the IPS, and those guidelines have been made clear. No controversy, no politics, no Ms. PalmTalk contests, and to stay on topic. Since this thread has already violated these, it will be closed. I had a feeling when first seeing the title of the thread, it was only a matter of time before it would happen.

As I have mentioned many times before, if you do not like the policies of PalmTalk, then join the IPS, contact the Directors, become a Director, or vote for Directors that share your opinion. But do something other than create public controversy here.
