world's saddest looking Phoenix canariensis !!!

Last week I was in north FL and spotted this Phoenix canariensis growing at a house in a rural area near Rochelle. This is just south of Gainesville. Probably saw temperatures in the upper teens on multiple nights. Looks to be growing back strongly but looks so stunted right now.

Looks like one of those ornamental welcoming pineapples.

Alot of them look like that here too, including mine. After they fry, they wilt over or break off anyway.

Although that looks bad, to me it's better than seeing the decaying fronds, and they are growing back quickly.

I would have painted it orange and charged people to come and admire my prize winning pineapple.

Warm subtropical, with occasional frosts.

It looks like the local tree hackers (pruners) got to it. But I think that's even too drastic for them.

Millbrook, "Kinjarling" Noongar word meaning "Place of Rain", Rainbow Coast, Western Australia 35S. Warm temperate. Csb Koeppen Climate classification. Cool nights all year round.

Mine look pretty bad also here in north texas. but not that bad, but they are capable of coming back strong.

The green leaf to leaf base ratio is closer to a true pineapple than any other "pineapple palm" out there!
