Bafana played well, soooo close to winning that one!

Wow Dennis...I rooted so much for the bafana here...when they scored the first goal I've heard you almost swallowed your vuvuzela... Your work mates look like they're ready to scream for Brazil against Portugal in Durban...

This afternoon all the cardiologic centers will have double work here in Brazil...Let's see the secret weapons North Korea is preparing for us...

Hi uncle G

My vuvu got good service on friday night! Was a great game! Sooo close to 2 1.

Yes our bafana colours can double up for Brazil, we just change the badge! :-)

I reckon it will be an easy one for your boys...I hope!

Portugal just drew with IC! Wow...

Cheers and good luck Brazil!!!

Dennis, Snow White had made lunch for the 7 dwarves and took it to their mine to give it to them. When she got there, nobody was waiting. She went up to the entrance of the mine and saw there had been a cave in. Poor Snow White began to cry very hard. She called into the mine, is anyone there, please is there anyone there ? From way way down deep in the mine she heard a little voice say, South Africa will beat Germany by 2 goals. Thank God, said Snow White...Dopey is still alive.

Well after the game before Germany that was also boring just sad to my dad, pfff so far not a really World cup with some nice games with some more goals then 1 or 2...

Got my wish, but somehow I don't want to see that from the germans! :mrlooney: However I have to say they played very strong and good, to a poor Australia :(

Too bad, because I always like to watch Australia too, there are some players in the team from Holland and Emerton was unbelievble in his Feyenoord Period, the team what I support in the country over here.

Tomorroowwwwww 13.30... the game... Curious how it's gonna be!

Of course poor Australia played badly. They have a Dutch coach. He is either a very bad coach or a very good saboteur.

They did well in 2006 in Germany with Dutch coach Guus Hiddink; they even made it to the knock off phase

Unfortunately they were plagued by bad referees; one Graham Poll even gave a Croatian player three yellow cards before sending him off, another referee gave Italy a penalty for no reason in the final seconds of the match so Australia lost and was out

Don't understand me wrong because I was really for australia that game, nothing is funnier to see when a other team beat Germany! I have to agree about the coach, don't like him either just like many more dutch people over here.

Also agree with Charles, 2006 with Hiddink Australia was really lovely to watch and unbelievble that Italy get to not right pen. in the final seconds from the referee.

I voted for Brazil because they're the best and because Dennis didn't bother to include Slovakia in the list.

Anyway, I heard rumors Dunga said he'd rarther play against the World Team than Slovakia and I think this guy knows well what he's talking about. If we advance from the group instead of Italy or Paraguay (which I take for granted), in the "round of 16" we might face the Dutch whom I liked back when Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit or Rajkaard (sorry for spelling) used to kick for them but the today's team can be beaten even by Fiji or Samoa if they play football there.

...and after we only drew with Kiwis yesterday, I feel even more confident.

I mean it. No laugh.

Cheers, Jan

Horrible game last night...Brazil was awful against naïve North Korea, in spite of winning 2-1...but well, every other serious candidate for the title is performing poorly too...except the multinational team of Germany (the brazilian born guy scored a goal...wow)...it seems that the only immigrants welcomed in Europe now are the football players: 6 ex-Brazilians switched citizenship and are playing for different countries in South Africa now...

Spain kept the tradition and did nothing in the world cup so far...From the games I've seen, South Korea and Germany played the best in this first round. Disgusting defensive strategies with everybody else...

And so be it, England played sooo bad. Germany was his own fould to get a a stupid second yellow card and get shower somewhere after 30 minutes, but always fun to see when the Germans lose! :mrlooney:

Another great game was the USA with an unbelievble dessicion from the referee to not give the 100% valid goal to the USA. This afternoon the second game from Holland against Japan, normally we should win but nothing is normally somehow look to Spain...

I normally don't watch the football, but tonight I watched Australia vs Ghana. Well actually Australia wasn't playing Ghana, they were playing the ridiculous Italian referee. He handed out a red card to one of the Australians for merely being hit in the arm with the ball when trying to defend the goals. He even had his eyes closed. This gave Ghana a free kick at point blank 10 yard range. What the HELL WAS THAT ABOUT????????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder people riot and set fire to stadiums at these things. It should have been 1:0 Australia Ghana, Not 1:1 Then he went on to ignore a blatant red carding offense by Ghana, giving it a mere yellow card, when it was clearly intentional. And then Ghana was tripping the Aussies everywhere and it was being ignored. But any minor offense by the Aussies was being picked up and punishment was handed out. I don't know why Australia bothers when the referee has already figured out the score before the game. He's probably in with the bookees.

I don't believe for an instant that Australia would actually win the world cup. There are too many really good teams out there. But that referee needs bringing down a peg or two.

Germany are going to smash Ghana, unless of course that referee is back and Ghana will probably win 4:0

Yeah! And that is six points and because the result from Denmark we are the first country of the tournement placed for the next round! Okay, the games where not the best ones, almost on the regulair German style but we always get the price from most attractive playing but in the end we always got nothing...

Well let's play bad the next few rounds and winning to play a georgeus half finale and maybe win the world cup, and everybody has forget this other games.. Or would be this a dream for now, and always a dream?

Another shocker today

World champion Italy draws 1-1 with tiny New Zealand a nation with no professional league and only 35 professionals, all playing out of the country

Italy might have lost even, had New Zealand not missed two opportunities to score the decisive goal

Still a chance for you Jan, Slovakia could end in second place and maybe play The Netherlands in the knock-off round

Charles, we could end up in the second place (and play Netherlands) if we beat Italy on Thursday, but you know that's not gonna happen. We played real crap against Paraguay yesterday. The South American team was at least 2 classes better than us.

Hats off to New Zealand which managed a draw with Italy and Italy equalized from a penalty which shouldn't had taken place.

So far I am really impressed by the South American squads Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay and I think Chile is going to join them (they only played one match so far). Really the quality of these teams is so high, that any of them could win the WC. Not fair, they have tons of palms (especially Brazil) and they have tons of talented football players (especially Brazil) :winkie:

Unfortunately Australia got knocked out of the last WC by Italy in exactly the same circumstances....a faked dive in the box.

This time round they just set their referee onto us - that Red Card against Kewell was a disgrace to the game, the ref should be thrown out of South Africa, or fed to the Lions.

I would like to point out however that most Italians are very nice people....!

New Zealand played out of their skin against Italy and deserve to go through to the next round, even if it only means that they get obliterated by the first South American team they meet....I'm going for Paraguay (drew them in the office sweep!).
