Some skillful pruning (albeit lacking pineapples) required to keep these this close together...

Interesting pic,I would pull three, leaving only 5.It would give a more balanced look and I am sure that CIDP's that size could be sold for a good price :)

Very nice growth - Having planted E. guineensis at a similar distancee

from my royals, I can take comfort that they may yet grow well!

But knowing how spiny the leaflets get, are not the two closest to

the gate accidents waiting to happen?

Sorry but no matter how dramatic they try to make clusters or rows etc, a CIDP is still a pig ugly palm.

Yes. I don't want to grow one but they're alot better than many type of palms.

Well, I think they look great! They sure look healthy and good in that photo, despite being so close together.

Thanks for sharing this picture fastfeat!

There are some even tighter grooves of Phoenix canariensis in Helia!!!laugh.gifsmilie.gif They look much much much better when totally unprunned as the grooves i am refering too aredrool.gif

Phoenix canariensis arent ugly at all in my opinion and would certainly love a huge mature pair in my garden!!! But with the Rhynchophorus ferrugineus arround, that would be a really bad choice.........Maybe somewhen in the future...smilie.gif

A CIDP hedge ? That'll keep everybody out, even the owners :D

It does look great though, "PPP" (powerful palm planting), place that in the arty palmy category as well. Kris will never get off his swoonaroona lounge after this thread.
