I have 11 palms that were dug and wraped in plastic then put on drippers a year ago. They are 10-15 feet tall with fat trunks. You will rarely see Sabal this size dug and hardened off. These were priced at $65/ft then $35/ft. The price now is $20/ft!

Here are some pix. As you can see these were field grown Sabals that were transplanted at a young age. Young Sabals are almost never found at this age that have been transplanted successfully. This is a chance to own palms that are ready to skyrocket. These palms are 10-15 years old now so you will have saved that much time in growing one of the finest Sabals there is.

These palms were previously priced at $65/ft. The special price of $20/ft is a real deal!

Ken, that is a great price for this palm. It IS the most beautiful Sable. Here is a pic of one in my garden that is shade grown under Pine & oaks. The leaves are very large & the petioles stretch out in the shade. I am glad I have one in my garden.

Can this palm take frost? How cold hardy is it?

Posted

I have a young one only about 3' tall no trunk, and despite being in open cold and frost this past winter, only a little burn on outside leaves - which new growth has replaced. If it can take a winter like this past one as a large seedling, I would say it is quite hardy! Greg

Begonias are my thing. I've been growing and selling them for three decades, nearly two in Tampa Bay. NPR is an bhour N of St Pete, coast

It is hardy. Maybe not as good as minor or palmetto but it makes it through even a hard freeze.

Any chance they could find their way out to California? Would the shipping be prohibitive?
